It was a gorgeous afternoon in May as we flowered along the Big Sur Coast for Eda and Seif’s wedding! Located just off of Highway 1 south of Big Sur, Wind and Sea Estate truly lives up to its name. Rising high above the ocean below, along the rocky cliffs is a picturesque ceremony site. Windswept and raw, I can think of no better location that truly embraces the beauty that is the Big Sur Coast. As a Big Sur Wedding Florist, we love designing at venues that exemplify the nature of the landscape.

When we were reviewing the plans for the ceremony portion of Eda and Seif’s Big Sur Wedding, Eda wanted to encapsulate the openness of the sea below with a floral design that would move with the wind and not obstruct the view. We went with a stunning, yet subtle grounded arch for their ceremony installation. The movement it captured from the wind made it look as if it was rolling with the waves. I was so happy that Eda trusted me with her vision as her wedding florist!

Working with Eda’s wedding planner, Katie from Atlas Design Studio, we developed a lovely color palette of warm nude shades, with cream, lavender and silvery blooms throughout.

I especially loved the concept for Eda & Seif’s seating chart!

A collection of handwritten notes were layered across the blush and rattan-textured seating chart, with repurposed flowers from the ceremony flanking the bottom. It was such a thoughtful concept and a delight to see how touched Eda and Seif’s guests were to read the notes that were left for them!

As a Big Sur wedding florist, it is important to take into consideration the wind and the weather we can expect along the coast on wedding days! While it was a gloriously sunny day, the wind was quite strong, so we kept the ceremony ground arch anchored with heavy vessels. Nonetheless, I would not hesitate to embrace grounded arches at this beautiful venue again in the future.

I cannot say enough about the timeless and feminine nature of Eda’s wedding dress style! SO beautiful.

A wonderful feature of the Wind and Sea venue, is their large wraparound deck, which is perfect for intimate wedding receptions. Offering unobstructed views of the Big Sur coast and open ocean, it was a simply breathtaking location for Eda and Seif’s reception and dinner.
